2026 Oxford-PUMC Student Visiting Programme Concluded successfully

In August 2026, the 2026 Visiting Programme at the CAMS Oxford Institute (COI), University of Oxford, concluded successfully. The programme welcomed the medical students from Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) and was supported by COI Director Professor Tao Dong, Director of Training Dr Ricardo A. Fernandes, Programme Lead Dannielle Wellington, CSC-COI DPhil Scholarship Lead Dr Beibei Wang, programme administrators Mimie Szyk and Natalie Baker, as well as COI group leaders, DPhil students, lab buddies and workshop trainers.

Throughout the visit, PUMC students engaged in research skills workshops on communication, academic writing and critical thinking, together with academic workshops on proteomics, translational research in respiratory infection, bioinformatics and single-cell RNA sequencing, protein engineering for immunotherapy, host genetics and epigenetics, clinical research ethics, flow cytometry and microscopy, and skin immunology.

The visit provided participants with first-hand experience of biomedical research in the UK. It strengthened their research, presentation and English communication skills, fostered closer interaction between participants and the COI academic community, including Oxford researchers and DPhil students, and improved their understanding of future DPhil opportunities at Oxford. The programme also deepened cooperation between PUMC and COI and supported the development of future leaders in medical science.
